Situation
Operation IRON PEAK takes you to the summit of Iron Peak (6444ft) in the Cascade Range of Washington in a circular loop. If this sounds too easy, Operation IRON PEAK MAX is on the same day. There is one easier route the same day as this event: Operation IRON PEAK MINI.
Mission
Candidates must complete the 13 +/- mile route in under 9 hours to pass and under 6 hours to earn the GBF Operation IRON PEAK Dog Tag.
Execution
Candidates will meet at the Esmeralda Trailhead parking area. After 0600hrs, GBF Staff will give an event brief before checking candidates' kits. Candidates are advised to carry paper maps (waterproofed), in addition to their smartphone, for navigation. Once GBF Staff are happy with the candidate's kit, they will be released to begin the route.
Candidates finishing in under 6 hours will receive the highly sought-after 'GBF Operation IRON PEAK’ dog tags.
