Distance: 105 +/- miles

Situation
Operation CENTURY takes you across state lines from Idaho to Wyoming, up to Observation Point summit, and back into Idaho. One complete loop of the route is approximately 21 miles. In order to complete Operation CENTURY you must complete five loops.
Operation CENTURY is 105 +/- miles with approximately 23,000 ft of elevation gain.
Mission
Candidates must carry 20 lbs (dry weight) and complete the FIVE loops of Operation CENTURY in under 48 to earn the GBF Operation CENTURY Dog Tag. The top three individuals / or pairs will earn the elite Gold Dog Tag.
Execution
Candidates will meet at the South Indian Creek Trailhead parking area.
At 1700 hrs on Friday, GBF Staff will give an event brief before answering any questions and releasing the candidates to begin the route at 1800 hrs.
Candidates are encouraged to leave extra food, water, clothes, supplies in their car as they will be returning to the car on each loop.
Service Support
- Mapping. GBF events use the AllTrails app for navigation. To download the route from AllTrails, you will need to sign up for a membership. GBF suggests candidates have a paper map, compass, and GPS too.
- Route. Ensure you download the route for offline use.
Operation CENTURY route is HERE. You must summit Observation Point each loop.
- Weight.
Operation CENTURY - 20 lbs (without food and water) in a backpack.

- Backpack (waterproof inner-bags)
- Phone (fully charged)
- Phone charger
- LifeStraw
- Head Torch (spare batteries)
- Hydration bladder(s)
- Whistle
- Compass
- Emergency rations (see below)

- Personal First Aid Kit

- Maps (waterproofed)
- GPS
- Blister kit
- Pocket knife
- Chem-light/cyalume
- Microspikes
- Hiking poles
- MRE(s)
- Dress. Candidates' dress will be a personal choice.
- Checkpoints. There will be a checkpoint at the start / finish location where you must check in after each loop and show your distance. The checkpoint will have water and snacks (bananas, cookies, etc).
- Water. There will be bottled water at the start / finish point. There are no water resupply points. Candidates should carry enough water to last the distance they require +3 miles, in case they get lost. The use of a LifeStraw is highly recommended.
- Rations. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 x energy bars and 0.5 litres of water as emergency rations.
- Medical. A personal medical kit is required by every candidate. GBF Staff must be made aware of any medical conditions prior to starting the event.
- Transport. Transport to and from the event will be at candidates own arrangement.
